Torbram Road Environmental Assessment

Study: The Town of Caledon (Town) is carrying out a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) to evaluate options for the improvements to Torbram Road from Mayfield Road to Old School Road. The corridor is expected to experience significant increases in traffic volumes as a result of planned developments as well as broader regional growth and future transportation infrastructure such as Highway 413.

Process: The study is being carried out in accordance with the requirements of a Schedule C Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, as amended 2024), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.

Public Consultation Centre #1
Your input is a key component of this study. The first Public Consultation Centre (PCC) will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 to present information about the project, existing conditions, the need and justification for future improvements on Torbram Road and the recommended alternative solution to address future transportation needs along the corridor. The PCC will be held as a drop-in style open house, and members of the study team will be available to answer your questions.

The Town of Caledon (Town) is initiating a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (CEA) to evaluate options for the improvements to Torbram Road from Mayfield Road to Old School Road. The corridor is expected to experience significant increases in traffic volumes as a result of planned developments as well as broader regional growth and future transportation infrastructure such as Highway 413. The study will build upon the recommendations of the Town’s approved 2024 Multi-Modal Transportation Master Plan and the 2025 Future Caledon Official Plan. The study will support increased north-south capacity, improve safety and travel efficiency, and accommodate multimodal transportation needs through review of roadway capacity, intersection upgrades, provision of active transportation facilities, and associated infrastructure improvements.

Study Process:
The study is being carried out in accordance with the requirements of a Schedule C Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, as amended 2024), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The study will evaluate and recommend solutions in consultation with the public, Indigenous Nations, and all relevant agencies. At the conclusion of the study, the decision-making process will be documented in an Environmental Study Report (ESR), prepared for a 30-day public review period.
