Project Overview

The Town of Caledon, as co-proponents with the Humber Station Village Landowners Group, has retained LEA Consulting Ltd. (LEA) for a “Schedule C” Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) for the extension of George Bolton Parkway to Humber Station Road with a local road connection south in the Town of Caledon, within the Regional Municipality of Peel. This study builds upon the recommendations in the Town’s Multi-Modal Transportation Master Plan (MMTMP) and will support the planned Humber Station Village Secondary Plan area development.

The study includes:

  • Extension of George Bolton Parkway to Humber Station Road;
  • Structure over the Clarkway tributary;
  • New local road from the George Bolton Parkway extension south to service the Humber Station Village Secondary Plan area; and
  • Provision of active transportation facilities along George Bolton Parkway

Class EA Process

The Study will follow a Schedule ‘C’ project in accordance with the MCEA (2024) process. The Town’s MMTMP fulfilled Phases 1 and 2 of the MCEA and this study will complete Phase 3 and 4 of the MCEA process.

Following the completion of this study, an Environmental Study Report (ESR) will be prepared to document the MCEA process completed, existing conditions, identification and evaluation of alternative design concepts, the technically preferred plan, anticipated project affects and recommended mitigation measures. The ESR will be filed for a 30-day public review period. Notification of study completion, including details of the ESR Filing will be published in the Caledon Citizen and posted on this webpage.

Consultation/Engagement

Consultation/engagement is an important component of this study and will include engagement with municipal staff, external government and regulatory agencies, Indigenous Nations, emergency service providers, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, adjacent property owners, and other potentially interested stakeholders. The Project Team welcomes comments on this project at any time during the study.

Two public consultation centres (PCC) are planned for this study. The first PCC has been scheduled for June 18, 2024 and the second PCC is anticipated to be held later this year in Fall 2024.

Notification will be sent out at consultation/engagement milestones, including notice of study commencement, Public Consultation Centres (PCC) #1 and 2, and Study Completion. Notices will be published in the Caledon Citizen and posted on this webpage.
