Community Conversations: Walking Tours

Join your neighbours and Town staff across a variety of departments on our Community Conversations: Walking Tours this summer! Designed to help our community dream big about the future, these walks are also a fantastic opportunity to explore your neighbourhood and meet new people.

As part of the Town of Caledon’s Economic Development Strategy and ongoing revitalization program, we’re committed (and excited!) to hear your ideas for making your neighbourhood an even more beautiful, active and welcoming place to call home.

The walking routes are between 1km - 1.5km in length and will have various stops along the way to facilitate conversation about what you love about your community and what you are looking for more of.

Some of the ideas you want to share on the walk may include:

  • Community services (E.g., "I would love a Yoga in the Park program")
  • Local initiatives (E.g., "My neighbourhood could benefit from an annual street festival")
  • Local businesses (E.g., "I would benefit from a coffee shop opening in my neighbourhood")
  • Planning and design (E.g., "My local park should have benches and garbage receptacles")
  • Public space (E.g., "I would like to see beautification efforts in my neighbourhood")
  • Public art (E.g., "I want more murals and sculptures in my neighbourhood")

Registration is required.

Are there any plans for a sidewalk to be installed on Charlestown Sideroad from the school to the existing sidewalk farther west?

Hello and thank you for your question. Charleston Sideroad is a Region of Peel road and currently the Town of Caledon is not aware of a project to install sidewalks. We have shared your feedback with Sean Carrick, Manager of Traffic Engineering at the Region of Peel, and you are welcome to email him at sean.carrick@peelregion.ca. Thank you.

Hello and thank you for your interest in our Community Conversations Walking Tours! This is the beginning of a town-wide revitalization effort and more walking tours will be coming to other hamlets and villages in the near future. Thank you for your patience as we plan future installments of these tours. Keep an eye on this page and monitor our social media channels (@TownofCaledon) for updates.

  • Share This initiative is very welcome. What steps are you taking to ensure these walks don't bias perceptions of the issues towards a more urban/ settlement vision of the municipality against the more diffuse rural farming and homesteading community. I would suggest a series of meetings organised to capture the views and answer the questions of this community, to meet concerns that Caledon is abandoning agriculture in a more peri-urban future. Thanks Jim on Facebook Share This initiative is very welcome. Hi Jim,

Thank you for raising this – supporting Caledon’s agricultural community remains a key priority for the Town, with the new Corporate Strategy vision being Our Caledon is the best of urban and rural life for everyone. As part of the Town’s Community and Economic Vitality Strategy, we will be engaging with the agricultural community through roundtable workshops to understand ways we can help support growth in this area. Please let us know if you would like to be informed of upcoming opportunities to participate. The Strategic Plan's corporate strategy launches soon and you can consult the plan at caledon.ca/strategicplan when it becomes available and you can also read a draft on the Strategic Plan website linked above.

The Community Conversations are very targeted to our existing urban areas and generating conversation to assist with community revitalization in priority neighbourhoods

    Thank you!

    Town of Caledon
