The Supplementary Aggregate Policy Study will build upon the joint Region and Town Aggregate Policy Review and the Town’s Aggregate Rehabilitation Master Plan. The Study will look at background on aggregates in Caledon, review aggregate Official Plan policies, and make recommendations for improvements to those policies to ensure Caledon can reach its planning goals. The webpage section below provides updates to the public throughout the duration of the study. Opportunities for community input though public consultation meetings will also be provided, as well as outreach and engagement with the Indigenous community and other interest groups.

All documentation below was prepared by the Project Team (Town Staff and retained consultants), unless otherwise noted.

Late June Public Engagement

The Town will be hosting an Open House engagement event in late June to solicit feedback from the public regarding the policy options which have emerged from the Study to date.

Event details are as follows:

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Location: 6215 Old Church Rd, Caledon East, ON L7C 1J7 (Caledon East Community Complex)

Policy Options Report

The Policy Options Report will provide an in-depth review of the regulatory and legislative opportunities that are available to the Town (i.e. policy options) regarding aggregate operations. These policy options emerged from consultation with key stakeholders, including the Aggregate Resource Community Working Group and industry experts. The Policy Options Report will be released in mid-June.

Background Report

The Background Report provided an assessment on the facts and issues surrounding aggregate policy, a review of existing municipal and provincial policy, as well as an overview of the history of aggregate operations in Caledon. The Background Report was submitted as an information item and received by Town Council on May 14, 2024.

Council Training

On March 6, 2024, Council received a training session on mineral aggregate resources. The slides from that session were released to the public on the April 9, 2024, agenda of the General Committee.
