Consultation has concluded
We are looking for input from the public on updating the Town's Procedural By-law to improve Council and Committee meetings.
The Procedural By-law sets rules on how Council and Committee members carry out the business of the Town, including how Council and Committee meetings are run. The Town’s current Procedural By-law was enacted in 2015 and has been updated periodically.
It is a best practice to review the Procedural By-law every term of Council and staff are beginning the review to report to Council in the Fall / Winter of 2023. Through this review, we hope to:
improve the meeting experience for all, including Council and Committee members, the public, presenters and delegates;
ensure decision making is effective;
reflect changes to technology, including the hybrid meeting model; and
incorporate changes in legislation and other best practice approaches.
Keys to a successful Procedural By-law
Fairness and consistency in the decision-making process.
Respectful conduct and collaboration to achieving decision making.
Supports an open, accountable and transparent governance process so that Council, the public and staff understand how decisions are made and what to expect at Council and Committee meetings.
Here’s why we need you!
An important aspect of the review is to obtain feedback from the community. We would love to hear from you through our survey. Click on the survey link below to get started.
We will be hosting a Public Open House on the By-law. The Open House offers another opportunity for the public to learn about the project and to Have your say.
Please check back for details as the date of the Public Open House has not yet been scheduled.
