Where do the growth allocations come from?
Growth allocations are set out in Provincial plans and legislation such as A Place to Grow: Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2020 as well as the Region of Peel’s Official Plan.
Will any land in Caledon be protected from urban development?
About 80 percent of Caledon is protected by the Greenbelt Plan, Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan and Niagara Escarpment Plan legislation and will remain unavailable for urban development.
What is an Official Plan?
An Official Plan is a document required by the Province that describes a municipality's land-use strategy for the next 30 years. It addresses the location and form of new housing, industry, offices and shops as well as anticipated needs for infrastructure. Streets, parks, transit, community amenities, and other elements of a growing town are all considered in the Official Plan.
