As part of the Transportation, Technology and Infrastructure project the Town of Caledon has initiated a Multi-Modal Transportation Master Plan (MMTMP). The key component of the Caledon Multi-Modal Transportation Plan (MMTMP) is to set out a long-term transportation strategic direction or vision for the Town. This vision will set the context for the detailed plan of roads and transit infrastructure and services. It will also help create modern mapping for road classification system and appropriate rights-of-way designations besides earmarking Major Transit Station Areas.

The proposed MMTMP study will be conducted in keeping with the sustainable transportation principles, which include

  • Understanding of existing transportation network and its characteristics
  • Assessment of future transportation demand and deficiencies
  • Transportation strategy
  • Innovation through transportation technology
  • amendment of existing OP transportation schedules and overall transportation network/system recommendations.

MMTMP Two Stage Approach

The MMTMP study is being carried out in a “Two- Stage” approach:

Stage 1: Will assess the current transportation documents/information/model and then update the assumptions to recognize and address new transportation issues and finally to generate a MMTMP document. Stage 2: Will provide the necessary transportation infrastructure timing/costs and the amendments to OP policy framework and its schedules especially pertaining to transportation.

Broadly, the two stages will be carried out to formulate the comprehensive transportation and transit plan by considering the most up to date sustainable transportation best practices.
