As part of the Growth, Settlement, Housing and Employment Focus Area, the Town of Caledon is developing an Institutional, Commercial, and Industrial Study. The purpose of this project is to ensure that there is an adequate supply of industrial, commercial, and institutional land in Caledon to provide opportunities for economic development by 2051. The Region of Peel is responsible for allocating employment growth by employment type to the Town. This study will allow the Town to plan for these areas in greater detail. We will look at many factors including the anticipated types of employment sectors and local target sectors and site requirements to determine what policies the Town needs to consider in attracting target sectors and the amount of employment growth allocated to the Town.
The objectives in the Employment Areas section of the Caledon Official Plan include: attract a broad range of industries, including corporate offices, to provide for long term local employment and economic stability; promote expansion of existing businesses and attract new enterprises; and provide a diverse and sufficient supply of industrial land to meet the demands and needs of various industries
An updateon the study findings was provided in a workshop with Council on November 23, 2021.
